From 6 to 10 January 2020, our team member Theo Zschörnig attended the 53rd Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) in Koloa, Hawaii, to present current results from the SENERGY research project. Previously, he and his co-authors had recommended themselves for publication with the paper A Cloud-based Analytics-Platform for User-centric Internet of Things Domains – Prototype and Performance Evaluation and now defended the work described there in front of an expert audience.
He presented important challenges regarding user-centric real-time data analysis in the IoT area, derived requirements for system architectures and presented his own architecture that addresses these requirements. In addition, he compared his own work with existing approaches and concluded that progress had been made with regard to processing large amounts of data (Big Data) while offering flexibility in terms of supporting different application areas at the same time.
HICSS is an annual conference in Hawaii in the field of information systems and information technologies and has developed since its beginnings in 1968 into one of the world’s most important scientific conferences in this field.
